Made it to NY
However, looking through all the schedules and plans for the shows coming up, I don't think it will be that big of a deal if we get no one else. I think this will be a somewhat leisurely summer. So I'm rather excited and good to go!
I have one roommate. Her name is Megan. She's from Ohio, but went to school in Tennessee and is moving to NYC after this summer job. She's in the sound department and plays cello. She is really nice and I think we're going to get along just peachy.
As for the Poughkeepsie town that I am in, it's a pretty ok little town. If you head south abit you eventually run into a lot of great restaurants and similar comforts of home, kind of like Urbana, except you'd go west and not south. Plus there is a nice big mall with all sorts of great shops including Hot Topic, H&M, and randomly, a Target! Also there is a movie theatre and a Saturn dealership. Oil change anyone?
Things are slightly more expensive here than in Texas or Illinois, but I suppose that is to be expected. The campus at Vassar is quite beautiful and is an arboretum designed by the same guy who did Central Park. Tomorrow or sometime soon I plan on taking myself on a little walk across campus to familiarize myself with the different buildings, gardens, and such.
I also found an Irish Pub that I'm hoping to hit up soon. I kind of got lost and turned around and that is where I stopped to turn around. As I pulled up, a guy came stumbling out right in my way. He kind of smiled at me as I let him pass and then stuck his hand out in a gesture that it was now my turn to pass. He was quite the Irish guy, cute and goofy.
So that's New York as of yet. Yay New York!
