Promises, Promises
Current mood:
cold
I take the title of this blog from the song "Promises, Promises" by the 80's band, Naked Eyes. My brother used to play it a lot and actually gave me a CD with the song on it. While it's a good song this blog is not about the song. No, it is indeed about Promises. Or rather, guys inability to keep promises, nay simply their word.
I have been told time and time and again, "Let's do [insert something fun here]." "Yes we're going to go to [insert a fun place here]." "We should totally do/[go] that/[there]." "I'll call you tonight/tomorrow/ at [insert time here]. Stuff along those lines. And on countless occasions, those plans have fallen through. So many times I've gotten my hopes up only to be let down. Is it so difficult to follow through with plans? Is it so difficult to make plans and then do them? Is it so hard to keep your fucking mouth shut if you have no intentions of ever going through with them?! If you never really plan on going somewhere with me, or doing something with me, or calling me when you said you would, then don't say it in the first place.
Seriously folks I'm really sick and tired of guys letting me down. I'm to the point where I don't believe anything and honestly, don't want to hear it. I don't want to spend time with a guy because I know he doesn't really mean what he's saying. I know he's not going to call (Brek), I know we'll never try out that restaurant (Clint), I know we'll never take that hike (Brian), and I know I'll never get that sea otter (Jason).
It comes down to honesty. Say what you mean and mean what you say. If not, then say nothing at all. Grow up and give me the respect I deserve.
