Taking a chance for God
Last night was an awesome night.. in fact, yesterday was just a great day in general. :) First it started off with getting up and going to church. A little earlier than usual but it's church and I really was looking forward to going, seeing my bro and my sis in law, and talking to Rick about some stuff I've been wanting to do. So I get there and I see Sam on stage gesturing me to the front of the sanctuary. Kelly and I assumed he wanted us to sit up front and we were like no way! So as we made our way to our usual seats I felt a slight tap on my back. I turned and to my suprise was Rick.
Rick: "Sam said you wanted to talk to me about something." (The first thing that flashed in my mind was.. OMG! He told Rick! ... after a sudden wave of panic I realized I was being foolish and he still didn't know)
Me: "Yes... Well I would like to get more involved with church and helping out with Intersection. Also, I wrote this song, right now its just lyrics b/c i don't write music, and I was wondering if I could read it tonight."
Rick: "Oh what is it about?" **cough cough** "Sorry" (Poor thing he was sick)
Me: "Well its about America and blessing God.. I based it off of 2 Chronicles 7:14, it says stuff about "if my people humble and seek me.. I'll heal their land" and in light of this whole war thing and I know what it is like having a family member in the military... So i thought it might bring some comfort."
Rick: "Sure.. we'll probably stick you in the middle somewhere.. just come early so we can put it on power point."
Oh I was in! My song that I had so diligently worked on was going to be shared with Intersection! Oh i was so excited!
The day continued... We had dinner at the house and then Sam and I went to visit Kelly at work. We did a little shopping and then headed back to the church. The two hours before church seemed to just fly by and before we knew it.. it was time for Intersection. I was upstairs in the booth with Sam, pacing back and forth, waiting for worship. I casually made my way down and began to greeting people who came up to me. Eventually the lights went down and everyone settled in. After the anouncement we began to praise the Lord. Awesome music, wonderful worship. I have to say this.. Worship is my favorite part of services. I really could sing to the Lord forever! :) As soon as we got to the last song Rick introduced me and I went up and began to speak. I couldn't believe it. I wasn't nervous. I wasn't shaking. I wasn't stuttering. Everything just seemed to come out right. The only thing i was a little worried about was messing up my lyrics. As i read I wasn't really thinking. For a moment I felt that I had skipped over some verses. But when I finished, the youth group cheered. Oh it felt great. I had done something special for the Lord. It was all for Him. I'm glad that I could share my song with people. I hope that it would touch their hearts and give them some comfort. But I also hope that it reminded them that we need to be aware of the Lord and bless Him as well. We can't constantly be taking.. the same as in any relationship. Most of all, I hope that it pleased God. I hope that as He listened to me He knows that I love Him, and wrote the song for Him. I thank Jesus for my song. And I thank Him for all the He has done for me. I thank Him for all that He will do. Overall I thank Him for loving me, and allowing me to love Him in return.
