Nikishka: My DnD Character

For a while now I have been playing DnD with a group of people, whom I met through Ben. We get together on Sunday afternoons and play. My character is a sea elf named Nikishka. She is a Rogue and has the ability to turn herself into a sea otter. Right now she's on a quest to try to figure out what is wrong with the animals that live in and around her part of the ocean. Strange creatures and men have been entering her territory from the island nearby and odd things have been happening. It is up to her to save her home and bring peace once again.

How Precious We All Are

I just have to say how awesome the bus system truly is. I've saved so much gas, so much wear and tear on my car, hundreds of quarters that haven't gone to parking meters and I've met quite a few people. So all in all.. a i give two thumbs up to the Urbana-Champaign MTD Bus System.

The point to which I'm writing this blog however is not about the bus system, but something I've learned while partaking in the wonderous bus system. I was hitching a ride on the 13N Silver and as it sped down Lincoln towards my destination, I casually glanced outside. Cars and people flashed by, their movement and speed diminuitized by the bus massive size and momentum.

As my eyes tried to focus on what was swiftly melting away, I noticed a small patch of green grass sitting in the sunlight. There was a glow about the grass, an almost luminescence. Within the grass sat a small squirrel. Nothing particularly special about this squirrel. Just an ordinary squirrel, eatting an acorn or nut of some sort. Just doing what squirrels do best. I smiled happily at it. Simply seeing the squirrel gave me such an immense feeling of joy and peace.

Then something within my mind, within my heart, flashed, and I had an epiphany, a revelation. In that moment, God spoke to me.

He said to me, "Do you see that squirrel? It's just your average, every day squirrel. Do you see what it is doing? It's doing nothing extraordinarily special. It's just eating. But despite all this, it still was able to make you smile. It still brought happiness to you. Though it's just a squirrel. You saw it as being special and you saw it as something of worth and value. Now... if you think that way about a squirrel, how do you think then that I feel for the squirrel? But even then.. how do you think that I feel for you? When you are doing something simple like eating.. or sleeping, I look down on you and you make me smile. I love you and you make me happy, even in the little things that you do. Because you are special and precious to me."

I cried. I felt so loved, so special, and so wonderful. Praise Jesus. God is awesome! So don't you ever forget. God loves you and you make Him happy. He finds joy in our simple ways and through all of our lives. We are all precious in His sight.

Night out with Ben

It's been a good evening.

Ben invited me to go with him to a costume party/chili cook off event with some people he knows. I didn't want to go as a pirate again, and since my friend Jennie leant me her "Sally" costume, I worked on getting a costume together. I turned a pair of white trouser socks into arm warmers and then sewed visible stitches onto them and a pair of white tights. I got a wig and sprayed it the correct color as well. I made up my face, paling it some and then spirit gummed visible stitches to my face, neck, and chest. I must say.. I looked really cute. Not as adorable as my Pirate costume, but it was a success nonetheless. The costume Ben ended up wearing was his Gypsy Trader rene-faire costume. It looked really great, and to top it off, he had this fabulous old pack covered with bottles, rubber fishes, and other contraban. Yes.. it was a nice outfit.

We went to the place and Ben helped setting up. I kind of shyed around and watched everyone. I always kind of stand in the background. Then everyone moved into the main house and we all began to partake in the different kinds of chili. They even had grilled cheese. I didn't eat one.. I should have, but that's ok. I can make one for lunch tomorrow. hehehe.

A girl there wanted to check out a local haunted house and Ben and I were totally up for it. So the three of us loaded ourselves up in Ben's car and headed out. The place was actually really fun. Ben went in ahead of us, me in the middle, and the girl, I think her name was Maia, was behind me. So basically I clung to Ben's shirt and she clung to my dress. The place was actually quite creepy with lots of jumpy out things, spooky corners and rooms, and loud bangy noises. Before too long, I had totally wrapped my arms around Ben and was clinging to him quite tightly, digging my claws into his soft flesh. It was quite an adreniline rush to go through, plus, I got to hold Ben. **blush**

We went back to the party afterwards, ate some more food, watched kids carve pumpkins, and prepared for what else to do. I thought Ben would simply take me home since he seemed to want to go out with some other friends, but instead, he invited me to go with him. We stopped by his friends house and watched some t.v. and then the three of us went out to watch a movie, Saw 2. A good choice considering it's the Halloween season. And what a movie it was! It really wasn't as freaky and crazy as I thought, but it was such a twisted movie and quite the mind boggler. I love those suspenseful, intellectual thrillers. Good times.

Ben and I then went back to his place where we kind of just loafed around for about an hour, reading, and not doing much of anything. I took off my make up and changed while he did some e-mailing. I dont know. Just nice to spend time with Ben. It's good having a friend, someone just to hang with and not have to talk, not have to do anything in particular. It's nice just to simply... be. He did compliment me like three times tonight. I was quite surprised and it felt really awesome. He complimented me on how good my costume was, twice, and then on my charming personality.

Anywho.. I'm tired. I have lots to do tomorrow. Ben and I are supposed to finally watch Boondock Saints. He's been wanting to show it to me for a while and we finally have some time. Therefore.. off to bed to sleep, perchance to dream. Aye, there in lies the rub. For in that sleep, what dreams may come. (ok yes that's not quite correctly quoted, but you get the point. Sorry.. theatre major, gotta have the play quotes.)

G'night my lovelies!
