Happy New Year

Well it is now officially the year of 2006, the year of Fullfillment! Happy New Year to all my lovelies. **hugs to all**

Looking over the past year, 2005, the year of Overflow, I have to say that it definately was a most wonderous and exciting year. Trying to remember everything that happened would be impossible, but so many wonderful things did indeed occur.

In January, my mother and I, as well as my friend Angie and her parents, went to New York. Not all together, but we did meet up a couple times. I was in New York to attend URTA, an interview process to help me find a graduate school. While in New York, my mother and I did much site seeing. We saw the Statue of Liberty, Ground Zero, took a tour of Manhatten, and visited the Met Museum. We also watched four productions: The Phantom of the Opera, Beauty and the Beast, The Producers, and an Agatha Christie play of which I sadly cannot remember the title. I had a wonderful time despite the interviews, in my opinion, having not gone well.

In Feburary, I discovered that I was accepted to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and was granted an Assistantship. Angie was accepted to the University of Indiana with an Assistantship as well.

March and April were busy months preparing for graduation as well as getting the final production of the season at The University of North Texas up and running, The Eternal Romeo and Juliet. Also, a small group of us ventured up to Toronto, Canada for the USITT convention. It was a decent trip, but the most important thing that occured was my interview with the PCPA Theatre from California.

May was full of excitement as our semester ended. Angie and I graduated with our BFAs in Costume Design. We both were accepted to the PCPA Theatre and with my family and her fiance, Alex, we road tripped to California for our new jobs.

June and July was busy while Angie and I worked and played in California.

In August, we finished our internships at PCPA and I left for Illinois while Angie made her way to Indiana. I moved into a new apartment, started a new job, and began my first semester as a graduate student. It was a whole new life for me.

September was full of class work and making headdresses for the musical, Nine.
October and November again was full of classes, church, making friends, and enjoying my new life. At the end of November I was able to return home for thanksgiving.

December was extremely busy. I worked hard to finish my semester strong with many projects, a semesterly review, as well as getting ready for the Double Spanish Operas that I was now the Assistant Costume Designer for. I took a very short but very exciting trip to Chicago with my friend Rose after which I went home to Texas for the holidays to see family, friends, and relax.

My life has changed so much over the past year. I have been through many experiences, learned a lot about myself, the world, and the people around me. There is so much still I know there is to learn and see. I'm very excited about it and know that this New Year will have so much more. It excited me to think of the possibilities. Already I can see big change. I'm the Assistant Costume Designer for two Spanish Operas, I'm hoping to get a job over the summer in Denver, I'm becoming more involved at my church, and a new romance is blossoming. This all of course has a price. I may not get to see my family again till next Christmas break. I have lost a lot of friends along the way, but I've gained some new ones as well. I suppose this is all a part of the great adventure that is life.
